What is coaching?
Coaching is a unique and distinct profession. A coach helps you and/or your firm to:
Solve problems
Reach goals
Design a plan of action
Make decisions
In addition to these areas, the coach, committees to the coachee (the client) to:
Implement the plan of action, working through the inevitable changes and any obstacles
Maintain a healthy balance between your personal and professional life
Keep looking ahead to take advantage of opportunities that are just now formulating
Bring out your personal best, keeping focused on your needs, values, and vision
What type of goals can a coach help a client achieve?
Coaches have training and experience in helping clients reach several types of goals. I work with the following people:
Entrepreneurs and Professionals like business owners, stockbrokers, real estate agents, therapists, sales directors, consultants, and health professionals such as physicians, chiropractors, and others who:
Want a full practice or improved business by upgrading clientele or finding and developing a high-level referral network.
Are ready to be leaders who want to be number one in their area, be recognized as a specialist in their field and have a model reputation.
Are committed to being financially independent. Professionals and entrepreneurs are uniquely positioned to be successful. Coaching assists them to be successful.
Executives and Directors responsible for the success of a company, a division, or a function who need to:
Reach high targets and quotas. Accomplishing this consistently requires an executive who also coaches the team to work together to reach stretch goals. Coaching assists them on how to coach their people to reach these goals.
Complete large projects. These can include successfully completing projects and implementing programs such as a new business unit and customer relationship development. Having a coach can make the process easier by having someone to speak with during this type of challenge.
Substantially increase productivity. No longer an option, substantially increasing productivity is a primary focus for many companies. A coach advises on how to upgrade the company culture, develop teamwork based on values, align departmental goals with the company’s mission, and shift the firm to be innovative and profit driven, not just more-is-better and we’ll-all-make-it approach, which is simply not effective in today’s market.
Why does coaching work?
Coaching works because it brings out a client’s best. A coach believes the client can create their own best answers and is trained to support the client in that process. Specifically, this is what I do with you during the coaching sessions:
Listen. A coach listens fully. The client is the focus. The coach listen to what the client says, what they are trying to say, and what they are not saying.
Share. After the client has fully communicated, the coach will, from time to time, ask to share with the client advice, ideas, comments, and views on the situation, dilemma, or opportunity.
Endorse. An entrepreneur, an executive with an extraordinary objective, a professional filling the practice – needs an endorsement, compassion, and acknowledgement. Not a yes-type person, but someone who knows what it takes to achieve.
Suggest. The coach expects a lot from the client – to be healthy, happy, and successful and enjoy family and friends. Part of the coach’s commitment is to be a step ahead of the client, yet be with the client in the moment. As such, the coach will make requests and suggestions
